frequently asked nurse call questions

Nurse Call - faq's

How long will it take to install and is there much disruption for residents and staff?

In most circumstances our nurse call installation teams can fit and test one hundred room units and six panels in an eight hour shift. Most nurse call systems are installed within one day. As there are no wires there is very little, if any, disruption for either residents or staff.

Will I need to redecorate after the system is installed?

As the nurse call system is wireless there is no need to redecorate as a result of the nurse call system being installed.

Will I get false alarms due to interference from other radio devices, such as CB radios and mobile phones etc?

Every radio signal transmitted by the nurse call system is encoded and error checked. The display panels and pagers ignore all radio signals that are not generated by the call points.

Can the radio signals from the nurse call system interfere with other equipment such as pacemakers and computers?

The radio nurse call system will not affect other equipment that operates outside it's own frequency band. It will not interfere with equipment within it's own frequency band that are operating within the DTI authorised specifications and that have been tested to ensure compliance with the requirements of the EMC directive (CE mark).

Does the system meet with all the relevant approvals?

Yes. It is type approved by the Radio Communications agency it also complies to the EMC, Low Voltage Safety directives and carries the CE mark.

What is the range of the system?

In free air the signal will travel up to 1km. By using signal boosting equipment we can provide full coverage for any size care facility, even care villages and large hospitals.

How long do the batteries last and are they expensive?

The room unit transmitters use standard AA batteries. Under normal conditions they would be expected to last for between 18 months and 2 years.
