About Nurse Call Systems

What are they and how do you choose?
The basic set up is to have a computer based monitoring system at a nurses station. The pc runs software which displays information about the system. It's linked to call points placed beside each patients bed or anywhere else that monitoring and the ability to call for help are required, such as in a bathroom.
Staff members can also be connected to the system with a small pager which they can carry with them. When a patient presses the button or pulls the cord on a call point, then the system displays information on the main computer screen and also on any display panels which have been installed. This provides staff with information about the type of call, who made the call and their location. Staff can then respond in the apropriate manner.
